THE LONG GAME VOL. 15 - LEAPT OVER TECHNOLOGY HURDLE

After around three years without a laptop, I recently updated my technology and now I have full accessibility to this website, full functionality on iMovie, and complete access to my music video encyclopedia (MusicVideoPedia). I had forgotten that I can sort music videos for hours on end. I’m now learning all of the mediums of creation on my new laptop and flexing my imagination to fit its new constraints.

This is one of the first images I created to highlight MusicVideoPedia.

While combing YouTube for music videos not yet entered into the MusicVideoPedia system, I found a nineties Trip Hop song that I’d somehow missed. I fell in love with both the song and the video immediately and now I’m trying to recreate how they made the music video. The song/video is “Underwater Love” by Smoke City and it is one of the hightlights of the Backwards/Reverse scenes category of MusicVideoPedia. I believe these video directors pioneered the multi camera semi-circle system for recording special effects that was later used in The Matrix. I’m flexing my brain trying to figure out how to use opacity, reverse scenes, and video speed to make my creations even weirder. Stay tuned for that.

I also added a few new categories to MusicVideoPedia lately including Music Videos Featuring Neon, Denim, Dragons, and Gum. The list of categories is now well over 300 and I’m highly aware that this project may never end. There will always be more music videos to sort and I love that… MusicVideoPedia is my Sagrada Familia.
