Another MF DALÍ collage finished! I try and let the collage make itself, I’m merely the hands that place together the art that was meant to be.
MF DALÍ STOP MOTION
I started saving pieces from a bunch of my MF DALÍ collages to animate and this is what happened…
I dream in dalí
Took my first MF DALÍ collage out for a walk because it’s time to tell the whole story of the project. I had no idea how far I’d run with this project when it started and I still have big plans for its future.
Ancient greek timelapse character
Started a new collection of art made with Ancient Greek pottery and this character was my first paper adventure. Still have quite a few Greek pottery images left so we’ll see what happens next…
Rural MF DALÍ SPACECRUISE
Took one of my MF DALÍ collages on a field trip because that’s the kind of stuff I do…
Third Eye Amplified … TiMelapse art
This collage still kinda freaks me out but it poured out of me so I had to make it. An interesting break from the Dalí collages that I’m guessing I’ll get back to very soon.
Space collage timelapse
Captured the process of the space background I use in my diorama art and set it to Dilla. I made this all on my iPhone as usual.
Collage Art Time Lapse - Pink & Purple Pool
After working with so much classic art, I was ready to drown in a pool of bright colors… so I did. This is the first in a colorful textured series of 11” x 17” analog collages created with magazine/book cutouts. After I finished this, I made more in green, blue, orange, black & white, and red. This one got such a great response that it’s already lined up to be album art for a Seattle-based musician in 2020.
Can’t wait to see what I make next…
My First Two Stop Motion Attempts
TheRingOfDOOM project started out as a failed stop motion endeavor back in 2016 and I’ve only recently begun to tackle that storytelling technique again in the last few months. I’ve started a YouTube playlist of my stop motion animation that has remained at two videos for far too long but I’ll get on that later today. Since I dream very big, this endeavor quickly became overwhelming because someone offered to pay me to make them music videos for their recent EP which I turned into a five part series about climate change… a huge jump from thirty seconds of a swimming Dalían fish. He even said it didn’t need to be an enormous endeavor but I tend to lean toward super extra giant never-ending projects (music video encyclopedia etc.) so it escalated quickly to the point of a false start. I’ve declared today to be one of the days in which I get back to work on it and will hopefully be able to share the results of my labor of art very soon. I did make a bunch of collaged waves and a big outer space background for the cardboard box movie set so I’m not starting from zero.
This first stop motion animation video was made the longest way possible on iMovie before I realized the Stop Motion app was much more user-friendly and 10x faster for this purpose. It’s pretty anti-climactic as TheRingOfDOOM is just hoverboarding across a Dalían sky but I’m grateful to have learned so much while making it and the background remains to be one of my favorite collages from my #MFDALÍ collection.
This second stop motion animation was made with a few different Dalí images and my own collection of pink pieces of paper from magazines etc. I quickly escalated this in my mind to the point in which I wanted to recreate the epic timing of the walk in Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel video via Dalían collage which is a seriously huge overwhelming jump. I often forget to be kind to myself by taking one step at a time and tend to leap into the abyss of my own creativity even though it usually ends up with me feeling disappointed in myself for not accomplishing something unreasonably difficult. Writing this down is a great step in not doing that next time. Can’t wait to see what I finish next…
Time Lapse Collage Art Video w/ Raphael's School Of Athens
Finishing stuff is so rad. I’m very proud to present my first completed time lapse art video! Over the next few weeks, I’m going to focus my intentions on telling my story and using my voice. I’ve realized that while I do believe I’m making art that is pretty great, I know that my enthusiasm about my own art is even greater and possibly even more interesting. For example, TheRingOfDOOM photos are unusual and pretty funny but what’s most unique and hilarious about the project is that I’m a 41 year old woman who always has a 3.3” fictional character in her pocket and gets excited about tiny art that most people miss. I literally just laughed out loud at the thought of me trying to explain TheRingOfDOOM project on video so I know that’s coming soon.
I’ve explained most of the reasons why I chose to cut up this painting in the video itself so here I’ll attempt to explain how Eartha Kitt, Hypatia, and TheRingOfDOOM ended up atop a flower on the right side of the screen. As I was creating the time lapse, I realized that it could be more exciting to watch if a cloud made of dismantled q-tips rolled through (LOL). Then I started looking around at all the stuff on the wall in front of me and began to include some of my half made collages in the mix. I’ve been waiting to find just the right body for Eartha Kitt so she’s been resting on a flower for months… love that she finally found some friends.
I learned a ton while making this and I have plans to cut up more classic art for sure but I’m feeling the need to cut up some seriously bright colors for my next project. Looking forward to sharing my art journey and seeing what I make next. This analog collage is now available for purchase in my SHOP.
My First 3D Resin Art Creation Video
One of the 1,111 ideas I have yet to develop is making videos to show you how I make my weird collage resin art. This was my first attempt I completed a few weeks ago. I didn't post it because I know I can do better but as a wise mentor I've never met once mentioned, showing your progress is key. These videos will get infinitely more interesting if/when I actually put myself in front of the camera. My favorite thing about this video is that I'm pouring the resin on the belt buckle I've been wearing every day since the resin cured... the same one the Hirshhorn Security Guard told me he liked more than most of the art in the museum.
